The Migration Advisory Committee (MAC)’s call for evidence on Global Talent and Innovator Founder visa routes forms part of a wider inquiry into how the UK immigration system can best be used to attract global talent.
Our response emphasises that the UK’s innovation system depends on international mobility, yet immigration policy often undervalues global talent as a strategic asset.
We are widely positive about the Innovator Founder visa, but evidence suggests low uptake of the Global Talent visa and overlap with the Skilled Worker route.
To deliver distinct value and truly drive an innovative economy, the Global Talent route should more actively attract research leaders. Our response signals that NCUB is open to working with the MAC to explore reforms to this route.
