National Centre welcomes three academic leaders to its board

The National Centre for Universities and Business is delighted to welcome three new Vice Chancellors to its Board. 

Professor Julia Buckingham, Vice-Chancellor at Brunel University London brings a wealth of experience as the first woman Vice-Chancellor at Brunel, and as Pro-Rector of Education and Academic Affairs at Imperial College London, and Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School, University of London. A specialist in Pharmacology, Professor Buckingham is currently a Trustee of the Royal Institution and the Society of Biology, and Chairman (designate) of SCORE.

Professor Julie Lydon OBE, Vice-Chancellor of the University of South Wales, was Wales’s first female Vice Chancellor and as chief executive of the USW Group leads institutions including the University and its subsidiaries, the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and The College Merthyr Tydful. She contributes considerable expertise from senior positions at UK universities as well as board experience as Vice Chair of UCEA, HECSU, University Alliance, Universities Wales, and HEFCW’s Student Experience, Teaching & Quality Committee. She was part of the Prime Minister’s delegation to the Mexico G20.

Professor David Phoenix, Vice-Chancellor at London South Bank University (LSBU) brings strong senior education sector expertise as Chair of university think-tank Million+. He is a Deputy Lieutenant of London and in 2009 was appointed as an Ambassador to the Government Equalities Office to support work focused on increasing diversity in public life.
