Working with the University Commercialisation and  Innovation Policy Evidence Unit at Cambridge, NCUB formally launched “Through Crisis to Recovery: The ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on universities and their ability to drive innovation and the recovery” in July 2022.

The report examines the ongoing effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on universities’ innovation-focused activities, and their ability to adapt and respond to drive an innovation-led recovery. Crucially, it looks at key areas where universities see viable strategic opportunities for driving the recovery and attempts to get at the scale of gaps in resources that may hamper their ability to pursue them.

This event included a presentation of the key findings by report author Tomas Coates Ulrichsen, Director of UCI at the University of Cambridge, followed by discussion with an expert panel including Professor Luke Georghiou, Professor Mansour Moniri and Alice Frost, Director of Knowledge Exchange, Research England. The event was chaired by NCUB Strategic Advisor Bob Sorrell, independent Technology and Policy Advisor and former Vice President of Research & Innovation at BP.
