EDF Energy is one of the UK’s largest energy companies and its largest generator of low-carbon electricity. A wholly-owned subsidiary of the EDF Group, one of Europe’s largest energy groups, EDF generate around one fifth of the UK’s electricity and employ around 15,000 people.
EDF Energy supplies over 5 million business and residential customers and is the biggest supplier of electricity by volume in Great Britain.
EDF is leading the transition to a cleaner, low emission electric future, tackling climate change and helping Britain achieve Net Zero. They are Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity, and around a fifth of the UK’s electricity is generated by their eight nuclear power stations, helping power their customers’ homes and businesses.
EDF are investing in reliable low-carbon nuclear, alongside wind and solar power, to create a balanced energy mix and cut out polluting coal and gas. With the right policies in place, EDF plan to enable investment in low carbon technologies in the UK worth over £50bn by 2035. This amounts to 12GW of wind, solar and nuclear power – meeting one fifth of UK demand.
