The sustainable development of smart cities is a major research theme at the University of Glasgow. Our research is focused on how technology, data and people will transform cities and communities to create smart cities of the future.
With almost half of the world’s populations living in cities, it is essential that our cities are fit for purpose, using technology to make city life run more smoothly.
Future Cities brings together multidisciplinary skills and expertise ranging from technologies for information and management; healthcare and health informatics; urban development strategies; education; sustainable transport; active travel; policy development; resilience and community leadership.
The University of Glasgow is working in collaboration with the Glasgow City Council Future Cities Demonstrator project, a £24M investment to create a more efficient and sustainable city by improving services, infrastructure and resources for those who live and work in Glasgow.
