The Wales Institute for Work-Based Learning at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David is delighted to be working in partnership with Tata Steel in the ongoing development of its employees. Students from Tata Steel, on both the undergraduate and postgraduate pathways have approached their studies with enthusiasm that has already significantly impacted their work practices.

The venture was made possible through Elevate Cymru which is part of the Work-based Learning programme, funded by the Convergence European Social Fund, through the Welsh Government. Elevate Cymru offers Welsh businesses funded work related courses that encourage sustainability and future growth. It provides a fantastic opportunity for business to access accredited training and Tata Steel recognised this opportunity by demonstrating a genuine commitment to work based learning in their support of their employees on this programme.

From a first cohort of 27 students, 27 have successfully completed their first module and are currently undertaking their second, Developing Leadership Skills.

Students have the opportunity to continue their development through the Wales Institute for Work-based Learning towards a full qualification, from a Certificate of Higher Education (level 4) to a postgraduate qualification in Professional Practice (level 8).”
