In this report, the University Commercialisation and Innovation Policy Evidence Unit at the University of Cambridge (UCI) and NCUB investigate the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the ability of universities to contribute to innovation through the crisis and into the economic recovery.

The report sets out findings of a survey of sixty-one senior UK university leaders undertaken in August/September 2020. Key findings include 88% of UK universities citing that a ‘significant proportion’ (more than 10%) of their innovation projects had been delayed.
