In this report The Physiological Society and NCUB investigate the value added made to knowledge exchange by physiologists within their institutions. The report provides estimates of the value and level of physiology-related knowledge exchange and explores the activities and motivations of physiologists working with partners beyond higher education.

On the basis of the report’s findings, a series of recommendations were made for government, institutions and other partners within the knowledge exchange environment aimed at maximising the contribution of physiology and addressing knowledge exchange barriers.
