This report is the result of the Council for Industry and Higher Education (now NCUB) Task Force on creative, digital and information technology (CDIT) industries, asking how the UK can remain competitive in these growing worldwide markets. It includes case studies from government support for Silicon Valley to the BBC and university projects in Lancaster, Bournemouth and Dundee on communication technology, animation and the games industry.
The report also includes recommendations aimed at government, business, universities and schools, and calls for the prioritisation of CDIT industries alongside STEM subjects including changes in school curriculums to include computing principles as well as software use.
