The Centre for Communication Systems Research (CCSR) is leading the way into developing the fifth generation of mobile internet, known as 5G. This is just one example of how collaboration between universities and business can create spaces for innovation that will boost research and drive UK economic growth.
Located at the University of Surrey, the CCSR is Europe’s biggest academic centre for mobile and wireless communication technology in Europe with over 165 active researchers.
The centre is one third funded by the HEFCE (Higher Education Funding Council for England) and two thirds by the mobile and communications industry.
With its world class research and testing facilities, including the 5G innovation centre, the CCSR will attract telecoms research to the UK and provide opportunities for graduates to be global industry leaders.
