Responding to the publication of Research England’s Knowledge exchange framework review: decisions and implementation, Joe Marshall, Chief Executive of the National Centre for Universities and Business, said:

“The outcomes of Research England’s Knowledge Exchange funding review offer an exciting glimpse into the future evolution of the funder’s KE strategy.

“It confirms that Research England will focus on developing the suite of metrics it uses to assess the full range of university knowledge exchange activities. This, in turn, will enable a new role for the Knowledge Exchange Framework in informing funding decisions from the 2025/26 Academic Year.

“I was delighted that NCUB was able to support the first stages of this review, and I look forward to working with Research England as they implement the decisions set out this week. We are especially interested in how this work can continue to incorporate the views and needs of businesses and other university partners.”
