In January 2023, the Government announced that it was holding a consultation on the future of the Research & Development (R&D) Tax Reliefs Scheme, proposing to merge the existing two schemes into one. NCUB’s response has been formulated through its previous policy positions and a discussion roundtable between businesses and universities. In summary, NCUB understands the Government’s intention to simplify the system through merging the two existing R&D relief schemes into one.
