The National Centre for Universities and Business (NCUB) welcomes today’s announcement of the extension to the Global Talent visa which will allow more than 100 innovative research companies to support the world’s brightest researchers to come and work in the UK. Recognising global talent as a strategic asset and establishing mechanisms to attract it such as via this extension is essential to realising the UK’s growth ambitions.

Dr Joe Marshall, CEO at the NCUB said:

“To maintain global advantage and grow a resilient economy, businesses need access to the brightest and most innovative talent.

“The Global Talent visa already helps universities attract exceptional researchers and innovators. Extending access to businesses is therefore extremely welcome and signals the Government’s commitment to growth. The 100 selected businesses will be better able to attract leading talent from around the world, strengthening the UK’s world-leading research and innovation capacity. We are particularly delighted that so many members of the NCUB network are included.

“At a time of intensifying global competition for R&D investment, access to highly skilled international talent is a critical part of the UK’s overall investment offer. This extension is an important step towards attracting investment, accelerating innovation and driving growth.”
