Our approach and strategic, cross-sector network linking universities, business and government is unlike any other. We bring our members together to leverage the skills and talent fostered by our universities and to strengthen further the UK’s world-class research and development.

In this response, NCUB provides evidence on how universities, business and government can collaborate to support the UK’s ambitious R&D goals and the levelling-up agenda. It draws on the key recommendations made within NCUB’s 2020 Taskforce report Research to Recovery, among other. Key recommendations include to increase overall public sector R&D spend to keep up with competitors and leverage private investment, to encourage the flow of researchers between academia and business, and to create a Global Collaboration Fund to encourage universities and businesses to pool their strengths to attract inward investment.
