This is an executive summary of a report from the Council for Industry and Higher Education (now NCUB) Engineering and Manufacturing Task Force. In Powering Up, the Task Force reviewed ways of enabling universities and businesses to collaborate more effectively, increasing manufacturing competitiveness.

The Task Force’s recommendations urged action from key stakeholders: government and the devolved administrations, business, universities and the Research Councils. As James Faroppa, Chief Technology Officer of BG Group says, “If the UK does nothing, it risks its resources being drained as significant capabilities relocate to countries like Brazil.”
