Member Event: State of the Relationship 2026: Strains and Signals – shaping university business collaboration

Each year, the National Centre for Universities and Business (NCUB) publishes its flagship State of the Relationship  report — widely recognised by policymakers, members and political leaders as a leading barometer of university-business collaboration in the UK. 

Last year’s report revealed a worrying trend: while collaboration activity remained resilient, its value declined. At a time when the UK needs innovation-led growth, momentum is slowing. We would like to invite you to join an online roundtable discussion with NCUB members exploring findings from this year’s Collaboration Progress Monitor — an in-depth analysis of research and innovation trends, and the opportunities and barriers shaping collaboration between academia and industry. 

The UK is at a pivotal moment in delivering its science and innovation ambitions. The insights gathered through this discussion will help inform policymakers and shape future initiatives designed to strengthen collaboration, drive innovation, and support long-term economic and social growth.
