Smart Specialisation Hub
Driving economic growth across all parts of the UK requires an understanding of the capabilities, strengths and opportunities of different places.
NCUB has a strong track record of developing, analysing and reviewing data on collaboration, research and innovation in different places. We are now developing a novel analytical platform that maps R&D capabilities across the UK, which you can read more about here.
Between 2016 and 2019, NCUB co-delivered the Smart Specialisation Hub alongside the Knowledge Transfer Network. A platform for place-based innovation intelligence and analysis, the Hub was established to develop an observatory of innovation assets across England’s 38 Local Enterprise Partnerships; advise on bids for European Regional Development Funding; and offer objective insight to local actors as they triangulated their work with national policy drivers (notably, the Science and Innovation Audits and Local Industrial Strategies). The findings, reports and insights it produced can be found on its website.
