NCUB congratulates Dame Shirley Pearce and members who were honoured
Professor Shirley Anne Pearce has received a damehood in the Queen's New Year's Honours List for services to higher education.
Professor Pearce served as co-chair of the NCUB's Enhancing Value taskforce launched in 2011 on how to maximise the value of the UK's research base. The task force's work continues with the Growing Value project.
She was vice-chancellor of Loughborough University from 2006 to 2012 and is currently a board member at the Higher Education Funding Council for England.
NCUB would also like to congratulate Iain Gray, who received a CBE for services to Science, Technology and Innovation. Iain is the Chief Executive of our partners the Technology Strategy Board, which promotes growth through business led-innovation.
In April last year, Iain blogged for us on supporting business-industry collaborations and NCUB continues to work with the TSB on projects such as collecting best practices for knowledge transfer partnerships.
In addition, over twenty individuals from twelve of NCUB's member organisations were honoured for their work, including academic and outreach staff in fields as diverse as micro-economics, life sciences and graduate employability.
