Prudential RideLondon is the largest mass participation cycling festival in the UK, with around 80,000 cyclists, including some of the world's top professionals, taking part across four separate events annually in August.
Prudential is the title-sponsor for the event in a three-year partnership. The Prudential RideLondon festival of cycling raised more than £7 million for charity in its first year in 2013, with the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 setting a new fundraising record for a one-day cycling event in the UK. A target of £12 million was set for the 2014 ride, which took place on Sunday 10 August, and the total raised will be announced later this year.
Around 20,000 amateur riders completed the sportive in 2014 despite torrential rain, starting at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, then riding out of London to Surrey before returning to the capital and a finish on The Mall.
The previous day around 60,000 families, friends and fun-seeking pedallers rode on closed roads in London in the Prudential RideLondon FreeCycle.
Bliss, the charity that provides care and support for premature and sick babies and their families, was the first Prudential RideLondon Charity of the Year in 2014. Disability charity Scope will be the Prudential RideLondon Charity of the Year for 2015. Prudential RideLondon 2015 will take place on Saturday 1 August and Sunday 2 August.
